Marvel's "Iron
Man 3" pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against
an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world
destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those
responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back
against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his
ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way
back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him:
does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Marvel has a very big money printing machine and it comes in
the colors red and gold. Setting a
record as the second highest opening weekend for a movie bowing only to another
Marvel mega hit The Avengers. Shane
Black (director) has created a monster that is by far the best of the Iron Man
trilogy and Marvel willing it won’t be the last with Robert Downey Jr. The unenviable task of topping this movie
falls on the shoulders of Joss Whedon to repeat with Avengers 2 that of what he
did with The Avengers. After the Iron
Man 3 premiere Joss gave the response of “What am I supposed to do now?” in
reference to Avengers 2. That’s all the
endorsement this movie needs. Great
cast, great story with a twist that can go either way with fans, but for the
most part it seems to be doing just fine.
Robert Downey delivers as usual with his Tony Stark character and it’s
nice to see Gwyneth Paltrow getting in on the Iron Man fun. Not to mention her trainer got her ripped up
for this movie, she looked amazing and played very well in this story. Don Cheadle gets a boost in the action this
time around as War Machine/Iron Patriot, while Guy Pearce plays yet again
another great character while Ben Kinglsey delivers a memorable
performance. We are given more of Tony
Stark the man this time and not as much Iron Man, as Shane Black really connects
us to who Tony is and why he is the way he is.
This movie is quite a step up from Iron Man 2, and with good
reason. Not knowing if there will be
another Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr., Shane Black tells this story in a way
that they can (and should) bring back Robert for another movie, but if they don’t
we will remain happy. One thing missing
from this movie that I have become accustomed to from Iron Man is music from
AC/DC. I was on the edge of my seat a
couple of times as the action revved up and I thought AC/DC was going to blast
through the Dolby Atmos system and shake the popcorn off my lap. Let’s all pray Marvel will dish out the money
to get Robert to return for at least one more adventure as Tony Stark. Please, please stay for the button after the
credits, they are always worth it and I’m always shocked when people skip out
before.
Enjoy the show.
