A self-absorbed writer, stuck in more
ways than one, rediscovers himself, his offbeat family, and what it means to be
happy when he meets Joy, a spirited young woman who asks him to write her
obituary.
Let me introduce you to one of the best movies of the year
that you probably haven’t heard. Every
year a couple of movies seem to go under the radar and sneak past us all. But let me be the first to assure you that if
you are a movie purist and love a good story with great actors and a lot of
fun, then this movie is for you. Hell,
this movie is for everyone, I wish it could get more press because it’s a must
see. We all have some form of craziness
in our families and this story delivers in aces on that. Kyle (Josh Cooke) returns home to finish a
novel only to step into a level of craziness he hasn’t seen before from his
family. Alan, Kyle’s Dad, (Barry
Bostwick) takes crazy and fun to another level that is fun to watch from
him. Joy, (Liane Balaban) who is the
neighbor who befriends Kyle is fantastic and should be nominated for this
character that has coulrophobia and finds interesting ways to deal with the
issue. Rounding out the cast is Lainie
Kazan, Tyler Bunch, Kiki Harris, and one of the best performances by a young
rising star Arielle Hoffman. Check your
local theaters, or favorite online streaming site to locate this movie and
watch it ASAP, you won’t be disappointed.
Enjoy the show. 5 out
of 5 clowns.
