The Heat

Ashburn, (Sandra Bullock) an FBI agent is extremely ambitious and has her eye on a promotion but she doesn't get along with her co-workers. She is sent to Boston to find out who an elusive drug dealer is by getting to the man who is fronting for him and is told that she'll have a good shot at the promotion if she finds the dealer. When she arrives in Boston she learns that the dealer has been eliminating his competition and taking over their operations. She learns that a dealer is Boston PD custody and goes to see him to ask him what he knows about the dealer but is warned that the cop who arrested the dealer, Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) is very territorial. And she is not exactly sociable. When the two meet they don't get along. When Mullins learns what Ashburn is in Boston for decides to find the dealer herself. Ashburn is told by her boss to work with Mullins but won't be easy because Ashburn does things by the book while Mullins does things her way.

It’s been awhile since we have had a good buddy cop movie, maybe Lethal Weapon 4?  This movie doesn’t disappoint, and although I was a little worried in the beginning of the movie because it felt a little slow and the jokes weren’t the best it soon picked up momentum once Melissa McCarthy got in the picture and began what I feel is her best comedic performance to date.  Samuel Jackson is the king of cuss words, and Melissa McCarthy is the Queen.  Her delivery is excellent and she controls the shots of her F Bombs with the precision of a heart surgeon.  Sandra Bullock who is as good of an actress as she is beautiful delivers a fantastic performance as a cocky FBI agent with no personality and really turns it on after her character is paired with McCarthy.  These two have great chemistry and once Bullock lets loose with McCarthy the fun really begins.  This movie really got me excited for Red 2, these buddy movies are fun and when done right you can do a lot of crazy stuff to really entertain audiences.  Grab some popcorn and friends and get ready to learn a few new creative cuss words.

Enjoy the show.
