Snitch

A father goes undercover for the DEA in order to free his son who was imprisoned after being set up in drug deal.

I was really excited for this movie and I really wasn’t sure to expect, besides from what I saw in the trailers and the semi truck roll over I wasn’t sure if it was going to be more of an action movie or a drama.   Action, drama, and thriller are how I would classify this movie.  While I was watching this I couldn’t believe that it was based on true events, although I don’t have children I can imagine that any parent would do anything in their power to protect them.  Dwayne Johnson has come so far in his career and this is in my opinion his best performance to date.  True, I am an action homer and think he is one of the best but it’s true, he is fantastic, as is Barry Pepper.  Please, please Hollywood, put Barry Pepper in more movies, this guy is an incredible actor and needs to be seen more.  Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis in one day is a fun movie outing, and we only have to wait a month to see the two of them together in G.I. Joe, here’s to hoping it’s a good movie since they made us wait so long.  But it's not over there, hell no!!  Mr. Johnson also has Fast & Furious coming out this Memorial Day, now what do we need to do to get him in the next Expendables movie?  Make it happen Sly!!  This movie is a cant miss that I recommend to everyone.

Enjoy the show.

A Good Day To Die Hard

John McClane travels to Russia to help out his seemingly wayward son, Jack, only to discover that Jack is a CIA operative working to prevent a nuclear-weapons heist, causing the father and son to team up against underworld forces.

So it’s my hope that they keep this franchise going as long as possible.  I’ll admit that the first is the best in the franchise but that’s usually true of them all.  This movie wastes no time getting into the action and keeps the pedal to the metal the entire film.  There was actually a moment while watching the movie that I had to stop and think about what the plot was, but I didn’t really care, the destruction and action was insane so it more than made up for me forgetting why in the hell this was all happening.  Hey, it’s action, that’s what we want, or at least I do.  When you see this movie, keep an eye out for all the Mercedes cars that are in it, and how it’s the BMW’s that get obliterated, product placement has its privileges.

Bruce proves again that he isn’t too old to keep kicking ass and that we all love that Yippee Ki-Yay moment.  This movie may have been a little short on story but it’s a fun ride.  My only complaint is with the two families that brought their 4-year-old children to this movie.  Maybe I’m a bit old fashioned but that is way to fucking young to see a movie like this.  Check this movie out if you are an action lover, it doesn’t even need a story the creative action moments make up for everything.

Identity Thief

Mild-mannered businessman Sandy Patterson travels from Denver to Miami to confront the deceptively harmless-looking woman who has been living it up after stealing Sandy's identity.

I predict this movie is going to do very well for 2 reasons.  1. It’s funny as hell. 2. Everyone is a fan of Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.  3. Genesis Rodriguez is in it.  Yes, I said 2 reasons; the third is a personal favorite.  It started out a little slow but once the snowball began rolling, there was just no stopping it.  There is a lot of physical comedy in this movie and coming from Melissa that is always a winner.  Jason delivers with his sarcastic humor that has perfect deliver and keep you wanting more.  I really don’t want to say too much about this movie other than if you like comedy, action, car chases, and a beautiful woman with a gun, you will not want to miss this movie.  If you have a phobia of snakes, like I do, this movie will only strengthen that phobia, but damn, it’s a funny scene.

Enjoy the show.

TOP GUN 3D

It's Top Gun, what more do I need to say?  This is easily one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time, and seeing it in IMAX 3D with eardrum blowing sound is the only way to see this movie.  I really wasn't sure how it was going to look being converted to 3D but it was fantastic.  The opening montage of planes landing, taking off, barrel rolling, with deck hands orchestrating a magnificent city of planes instantly fires you up for this movie.  Maybe a lifetime of playing sports and developing a deep brotherhood with your teammates, or always having the deepest respect for our military is what draws me to this movie.  What a great audience to watch it with, all attendees were Top Gun fans whose faces all lit up when Danger Zone started to play and the ladies go very excited to see the volleyball scene in 3D.  This is a movie that will hopefully stand the test of time, and from the whistles and claps from the crowd after the movie ended, it seems to be putting up one hell of a dogfight.

Must see. Enjoy the show.

Hansel & Gretel

In this spin on the fairy tale, Hansel & Gretel are now bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. As the fabled Blood Moon approaches, the siblings encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past.

FUN!!! That is the best word to explain this movie.  Thank God someone is willing to try something different in Hollywood.  What a fantastic spin on this story, I can’t stop thinking of how great it was and when I can go back to see it again.  Jeremy Renner who is no stranger to playing a bad ass, and Gemma Arterton who makes me want to be a troll just so I could be her friend looked quite comfortable as a bad ass and I hope to see her do some more movies involving action.

My ticket allowed me to use the entire seat but I only needed the edge.  Yes I have been waiting to say that.  It was nice to feel excited watching a movie again and laughing and cheering with the actors as the movie progressed.  If you are a visual person you will enjoy the set design on this movie, incredible job, it made we want to rush home and eat candy.  Run; don’t walk to see this movie.  Get your popcorn and favorite movie partner and get ready for some fun, I promise you this.

Enjoy the show.

Bullet to the Head

After watching their respective partners die, a New Orleans hit man and a Washington D.C. detective form an alliance in order to bring down their common enemy

If you’re looking for a fun, non-stop action movie, look no further than Bullet to the Head.  As I settled into my seat along with the other 10 people in the theater for my matinee of action, I was surprisingly caught off guard by the start to finish action of this movie.  Stallone seems to always keep it fresh with new was to keep the action fresh off the drawing board.  Sung Kang was a nice addition to this movie, he and Stallone were a good pair to watch, I was hoping for a few more jokes between the two, but none the less I walked away really enjoying this movie.  The only thing that bothered me was the headrest in the car Stallone’s character drives.  Hollywood likes to remove them to get the shots they need, and then make them suddenly reappear; someone has to be close to figuring out a way around this problem, right?

I say see this one if you like good action but no need to run out immediately, if you are having second thoughts, put it on your must rent list.

Enjoy the show.
